Ingredients
2–3 ripe tomatoes, sliced
8 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced
Fresh basil leaves
(or a small spoonful of pesto if fresh basil is unavailable)
Optional: a few thin slices of roasted red pepper (a little goes a long way)
1–2 tbsp The Tickled Pickler’s Basil Instinct Vinegar
1–2 tbsp good olive oil
½–1 tsp The Tickled Pickler’s African Blue Basil Salt
Fresh cracked black pepper
Preparation
Arrange alternating slices of tomato and mozzarella on a serving platter.
Tuck fresh basil leaves throughout the salad, or lightly spoon small amounts of pesto around the plate.
Add a few thin slices of roasted red pepper if using.
Drizzle evenly with Basil Instinct Vinegar and olive oil.
Finish with African Basil Salt and generous cracked black pepper.
Let sit 5-10 minutes before serving so the flavors mingle.
Tips & Tricks
🍅 Use Peak Tomatoes
The better the tomatoes, the better the salad. Heirloom tomatoes work especially well.
🌿 No Fresh Basil?
A small spoonful of pesto makes an excellent substitute and still delivers fresh basil flavor.
🫒 Use Good Olive Oil
Since the dressing is minimal, a flavorful olive oil makes a major difference.
🔥 Roasted Peppers Add Sweetness
Just a few small slices add smoky sweetness without overpowering the basil and mozzarella.
🧂 Finish Right Before Serving
Add the basil salt at the end to preserve texture and freshness.
